At the end of last fashion week season in March I received an E-Mail  if I was interested in working on a book project on bags. Being a sort of bag crazy myself of course I shouted yes ! It was only a few weeks later when I saw the preview that I realized it wasn’t just a small book project but rather a large coffee table book with hundreds of images. We wanted to illustrate this mostly with Street Style photos. So what followed were months of digging through the archives and getting on the nerves of the poor layouters to move and switch images around again and again. There were also some last minute changes to make sure the Loewe puzzle bag was included and that beautiful flower embellished Chanel bag on Caroline de Maigret …

This week my book package worth of about  twenty kilos or so arrived and I was so excited. I had done two books before, but I underestimated the impact of a heavy coffee table book and seeing images large. It’s so much fun and well a bit emotional to me.

So here is a look inside, some of my favorites … Camille with her black Chanel bag,  the M2Malletier on Sofia Sanchez de Betak and of course the Petit Malle by Louis Vuitton which is owned by Veronika Heilbrunner and was photographed as she was heaving coffee Parisian style.

There are about 260 more Street Style images in the book, historic photos and Still Lifes, the chapters cover classics from Chanel to Louis Vuitton and ‘It-Bags’ like Paula Cademartori and Charlotte Olympia. There is an interview with Mira Duma on the Kelly Bag.  Oh and I should mention the chapters are written in English, German and French by Julia Werner and Dennis Braatz. It was really Julia’s idea to illustrate this book mostly with Street Style images (thanks Julia !).

I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I do !
