Trends and highlights for 2016 !

2015 has been an exciting year and as we’re starting into a promising 2016 I wanted to recap on some style highlights from the streets that I am expecting to see a lot of this year. Here are some of my favourite trends.

Shirts: There was an amazing variety of shirts in 2015, knotted, extra long, ruffled, off-the-shoulder, endless possibilities really. I love this because a shirt is such an easy way to upgrade a simple outfit.

Wider denim, cropped fringed denim, pajama top buttoned only on top, Brie Welch and Megan Gray add their very own personal touches to their looks. So if you want to call it a trend, I would call it individualism. I find this especially present in New York, where is the idea of being a strong unique brand is very important.

Beige: A color that never really goes away, such a classic. In the form of trench coats  and extra long coats this season. Also neck scarfs and hats !

Faux Fur: I love a fuzzy coat in winter and I am super glad that there are more and more ‘faux’ options.

Honestly, I didn’t know Eva Chen was wearing faux when I saw it, I later found out this amazing jacket is by Vanessa Hong and I really want to get my hands on one of her creations.

Denim and more denim: As with the shirts, endless options of denim are out there, generally wider than before, often with washing details and fringes. I’m also wondering, is ripped denim coming back ?

Oversized coats, long and wide enough to fits lots underneath and to create strong flowing silhouettes.

Pastel blues and rosés … also the rise of Ellery !

Knits and dresses over pants as seen on Sarah Harris here.

Stripes are a classic, there were lot’s of stripes last year, both in the vertical and horizontal versions and even worn head to toe. And what we will certainly see more, lose ties on shirts and jackets as on the detail of Giorgia here.

Jacquemus and lots of print as seen on my pretty friends Laura and Claire here.

Comfortable pajama looks, wide pants, Gucci and piping. A trend I love for obvious reasons …

White shoes and heavy boots as these by Balenciaga.

High boots and overknee boots are back.

The box bag by Mark Cross was everywhere.

Sailor pants, turtleneck, LOEWE puzzle bags and skinny scarfs.

Leandra is wearing two favourites in one look, the Céline dress with the beautiful bow detail on the back and those most wanted Chanel sling backs. Talking about shoes, my crush goes to Gucci loafers this season. Also seen a lot, Suede, here on New Face and Céline model Mathile Brandi.

Wrap skirts and Vetements ! It will be exciting to see what Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia will create for Balenciaga this year.

Missing out on any favourites that you are expecting to see in 2016 ?

    • same here – I might look into Olivia von Halle, though for outdoors I like the idea of a pajama that has more heavy fabric.
