I just returned from my trip to Moscow and I realize that the impressions are much stronger than I thought and I will need at least one good night of sleep to arrive in Berlin.
I didn’t even see that much of Moscow, I went to the city centre and the Kremlin’s treasury which was absolutely stunning and of course I went to see the shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashionweek Russia (thanks to the organisation for the opportunity and for taking such good care !).
The first lesson I learned was that the shows start in the afternoon and the highlights usually after 7pm with shows running later than 10pm. This is also why I didn’t take many street-style photos, most of the stylish Russian ladies showed up after dark. But oh well, this fashion-week was a bit different for me, I was able to enjoy it as a guest and actually went to see the shows without running after the perfect shots all the time.
As for the designers I actually really enjoyed getting an impression of Russian tradition with long dresses, rich embroideries, head-pieces, colors one one hand and some more Modern and dark pieces and interesting layerings on the other hand. Some of it was maybe a bit too sweet for my taste, but there was really a lot I loved and would also like to wear.
My highlights were the Julia Nikolaeva and Bessarion shows, I also really liked Ruban, Vilshenko, Tatyana Parfionova and as mentioned in a previous post Alena Akhmadullina and many more.
Here you go with some pictures !
The photos above are of one of my favorite designers Julia Nikolaeva, I love the combinations of casual and sequins, the muted colors with the gold, and how cool is that long dress with sequins on the back, flat shows and pockets ! That’s the way to wear an evening gown.
pretty and dramatic dresses at Vilshenko
more traditional at Tatyana Parfionova, I would love to see this top combined with a pair of jeans
